With a problem like this, probably the first thing to try is services. Go to search, by the start menu. Type the word services. Once there, look for print spooler, make sure it is on and set to automatic.
If that does not work we try plan B
Disconnect your printer, get rid of all traces of the present driver, then try this
Go to the printer website, download the driver to your documents folder, but first disconnect the firewall and A/V
Then disconnect the printer from the computer and shut it off
Then install the driver, from documents, by clicking on it
When advised to do so, connect the printer and turn it on
Then,wish with all your might
then see how it prints.
If that does not work, do the same thing with the Windows xp driver in compatibility mode.

After 3 days of frustration and searching without much luck I finally figured out a way to possibly fix a problem such as yours. I have a Lexmark X4850 that I've owned for awhile, but the last time it ran out of ink I just got a cheap HP to print but I kept the Lexmark to scan documents with. This week I finally found a great deal on ink for the Lexmark and got some, but until now I hadn't tried to print using the Lexmark on my new Windows 7 install (it was used to print on a Windows XP machine before), as I only used it to scan documents. After inserting the ink and trying to print a test page I received the same error you got complaining about "enable bidirectional communication". I tried messing around in the software that came with the drivers and found it could print the alignment and cleaning pages fine, but trying to print a test page or any other document I would get the "enable bidirectional communication" error and the option to enable it was greyed out. After trying every driver and suggestion I could find (ranging from running the setup in Windows compatibility mode to deleting all references of Lexmark in the registry) I finally did this to get it to work by doing these steps.
1) Unplug the printer from the computer (USB, ect...)
2) Uninstall any installed Lexmark printing software in the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs
3) Go into Control Panel-Device's & Printers and remove the Lexmark printer from here (right-click Remove Device)
4) Download the recommended drivers for your printer and OS from Lexmark's site http://support.lexmark.com
5) Extract the drivers (I left the default C:\Lexmark\drivers\...) but if the setup program starts automatically close it, all we want it to do is extract the drivers for now
6) Plug your printer into your computer and open the window that shows the drivers that it is installing and click the link stating do not download drivers for this device through Windows update
7) Once it gets done hopefully it didn't automatically install the printer drivers, right-click on Computer and select Manage, than select Device Manager
8) You should be able to find your printer located here and have some sort of marking next to one or two icons showing that it doesn't function properly. Right-click on these items and choose update driver
9) In the window that this brings up choose to browse for the drivers locally and select the folder that the drivers you downloaded were extracted to (ex. C:\Lexmark) and make sure that the include sub-folders is checked. Do this for each of the Lexmarks printer icons for your printer in the Device Manager (I did get a timed out message when I tried installing it on one of the two Lexmark devices that showed for me, but I installed the drivers for the other one than went back and tried the one that timed out and it installed fine the second time)
This should have installed your printer, you can check in Control Panel-Devices & Printers. If it's there you can also go to it's properties and check the Ports tab to see if "enable bidirectional communication" is checked, if it is you're sitting good thus far. However now when I tried to print a test page I got an "0x00000002" error...son of a.......but.....
10) Go to the folder where you extracted the drivers to and run the Setup.exe file and go through it as normal (I left everything pretty much default).
11) Hopefully if you were like me step 10 fixed the 0x00000002 error and bidirectional communication is still enabled from the earlier steps and now you can print.
It was a pain, but I'm happy to finally be able to print again with my Lexmark X4850. I know some steps may be a bit confusing the way I explained, but hopefully this may help someone else.

Canon Printer Troubleshooting
The Canon printers are some of the most popular on the market today. The Canon name is renowned for offering high quality, durable and functional printers and other computer accessories. You always get the very best with a Canon printer, but sometimes you may find yourself needing to troubleshoot a problem. These printers, just like any others, are subject to technical difficulties but you should be able to fix the problem easily enough.
If you notice the ink on your printer is showing up dry and barely visible on the pages when you try to print, but have just refilled the ink cartridge, you know it is not the ink running dry so there is another problem. Look under the ink cartridge and make sure it is not getting blocked in any way. There may be dust or dirt stuck on the cartridge which is keeping the ink from making it onto the paper.
If you need Canon printer support because you see an error message saying the "Ink Absorber is full", try resetting your printer and see what that does. This should work to fix the error and if not you simply access the printer's menu section and reset the ink absorber. Usually this is not a serious problem and you can take care of it yourself. If you can't seem to figure it out, take it in to avoid wrecking it and causing further damage.
Another common problem on the Canon printer light flashing on and off. If this starts happening during use of the printer or even when it is off and not in use, the best thing to do is try resetting it. A simple hard reset-where you unplug the printer from the power source rather than turning it off with the power button-should be enough to fix this problem. If not you may need to open the printer up and check the light bulbs to ensure one is not broken. This may require the skills of a professional electronics repair person.
If you have any troubleshooting questions, you can always consult your printer manual or contact the Canon Company. They have a skilled and qualified support staff that is always ready and available for any questions. You can call about any Canon printer no matter what the make and model, old or new. You will need to have the make and model ready, as the answer to the same question can change from one model to the next.

Fix Corrupt Dell Printer Drivers
One thing you need to realise is that the Dell printer is quite popular in the computing consumer world. So, it would not be surprising to note that the amount of problems for the Dell printer has exponentially increased. One thing you need to note is that it is impossible to create perfect tech in the sense that it does not really exist in this world today. Tech will always be prone to errors. And this is why this article is here, because it will now tell you the 3 easy fixes you can do on your own to correct corrupt dell printer drivers.
The driver is what the printer uses to communicate with the computer, and it is also facilitates the way information is being passed back and forth from the printer to the computer via the cable or over a network. What you need to understand is that this process can often come under fire from errors on the drivers of the printer that have been installed into the system. What you need to do when this happens is to be able to fix these very basic and fundamental problems on your own, because they do not warrant you lugging your entire set up to a tech shop.
One thing you need to do is to actually try and do a clean install when it comes to this and what this is really is just deleting the signature from the hardware profile box and then re installing the drivers into the computer. This way, most of the time, it will work and Windows will sort itself out, but what if you come into the position where this does not work and what do you do then.
Well, for all intents and purposes, what can happen is that you need to update your drivers, because outdated drivers are the biggest culprit when it comes to this whole corrupted drivers business. Where you can get these updated drivers are from the internet and all you need to do is to get yourself to the landing website of the product and go to their technical support page. Most of the time, the drivers that are posted online are fresh ones which have been resolved with several errors.
This is because people like you would feedback to them the problem and they would then engineer a result, which would come into the whole concept of newly posted drivers. So, the third way that you can do this, is to post up the problem that you have on many of the tech forums online, and you will usually get some sort of response on your side. So, these are some of the ways that you can actually get into the whole game of self help when it comes to corrupt dell printer drivers. So these ways are pretty simple in every sense of the word, and you can do this on your own, which would eliminate plenty of problems on your side as well.

Fix HP Printer Problems: Solve Print Quality, Printing Speed, and Driver Issues
Oftentimes, problems with our HP inkjet printers appear repeatedly. It's the same scenario every time; jammed papers, spotty printing, error message, etc. These are common problems which can easily be fixed and should not be a reason for delays. It is quick and easy to fix HP printer problems. Here are some tips which can help the next time you are faced with these situations.
Paper jams. This is by far the most common problem encountered when printing. Reasons for this include using crumpled papers, and printer roller problems. Once your paper is jammed, stop the printing operation, turn off your printer and pull the paper in the direction of the printing path; pulling it backwards might damage your printer more. Make sure there aren't any pieces of paper left inside the printer, and turn it back on. This should work properly by now.
However, if the rollers seemed misplaced or broken, you will have to buy a replacement roller for your printer model and ask your technician to replace it. Or you can go to the HP service center for assistance.
Low Print Quality: White lines along the paper, blotchy and spotty printing. There are two reasons from this problem: empty ink cartridge, and clogged Print Heads, the tubes that transfers ink from the cartridge to the paper. With the first, you simply have to replace the ink, and clean the Print Heads with your system; this is usually included in the printer window appearing when you put in a new cartridge. End it in a test print. Otherwise, you will have to clean your Print Heads with the use of cotton swabs and alcohol.
Printer is refusing to print. If you're getting error messages when trying to print, or your documents simply does not print, check the cable connections of your printer and computer, the cables should be plugged firmly in the proper ports. Also make sure that both your devices are getting enough power supply.
In addition, check printer settings to make sure that you have selected the proper device for document printing. You can do this by clicking on Start > Devices and Printers, and select your default printer. If it still doesn't work, you need to open your printer and check if something is blocking the rollers, the ink cartridges, or any other part of the printer. Dust can also cause this printer malfunction.
Ghosting or Slipping. If your printer produces an image with a much lighter copy, or overlapping pictures in a page, and you are certain you did not change your printing settings or image quality prior to printing, this should be caused by insufficient power supply. You might have to connect it to another outlet. However, if your printer is old, some parts may already need replacement, and such causes this printer problem as well.
Printer suddenly does not work. If you have recently changed your windows version, most probably, your computer has set new default driver software. It is the driver that makes your device work, in this case, the printer driver. If you have installed a new application, the default driver might also change. You can solve this by downloading the proper printer driver for your printer model online. Remember to key in your correct printer model and operating system when searching, for installing the wrong driver will not make your printer work. You can add efficiency by downloading from reliable sites which also offers drivers for other hardware, or searching programs that will look for the right driver for your device.
Printers generally last for 8 to 15 years. Observe proper maintenance: check the ink cartridge and the print heads, clean and dust off your printer occasionally, and stick with the ink brand and name that comes with your printer. Keep in mind to use the proper driver software all the time and install updates. Next time you encounter the above-mentioned problems, you can quickly fix your HP printer.

How to Get an HP Printer Repair
Printer problems are very common; from repeated paper jams, to low print quality, damaged cables, wrong or loose connections, power supply problems, broken hardware parts, and so on. Printer repairs usually come in user manuals provided with your purchase of the printer; or in printer repair kits and procedures found online; troubleshooting directions; and support center of the websites of each printer's respective trade names, like inquiring for HP printer repair at the HP website for instance.
Printers must come with its proper driver software; otherwise, the printer suddenly stops working, with no prior signs of failure. This happens when you update your operating system (OS) like Windows, Linux, and Mac, even if you have upgraded to the plug and play types. This deals with the compatibility issue of your driver software and your printer. Oftentimes, when you install a new OS, it comes with its own driver which automatically becomes the default driver used for your external devices such as printers, microphones, etc. With the wrong driver activated, your computer will not even be able to detect your device.
In such cases, all you have to do is search online for the driver that works with your computers' OS version and printer model, download it, and click on the saved binary file to install. It is important to take note of your operating system and printer model; again, installing the wrong driver will not restore your printer. There are several software database in the internet, you just have to choose intelligently; read comments if available. It is advisable to look up reliable websites and programs which help you find the right driver for your hardware.
Upgrades of these software drivers are released every now and then, and many websites update their driver list monthly, so you might also like to check on the latest driver developed to be ensured that your printer will work perfectly.
For other problems, you can check the user manual that came with your purchase of the printer, or you can get a printer repair at its respective service providers. For example, with regards to HP printer repair, you can either log on to the support and driver portion of their website, or ask for phone assistance in their 24/7 hotline, the number of which can also be found in their website.
To get an HP printer repair, you will have to supply the representative or technician with your printer serial number, the product name, model number, operating system or Windows version, the description of the problem, and the fixes you have already tried. Some problems may be resolved through phone, in which the technician will assist you by giving a detailed instruction as to how to fix your printer. Several sources online are equipped with very helpful tips and procedures for troubleshooting; similarly, a lot of driver software and corresponding updates are available for free to help your device function at its full potential. Remember to download from reliable websites to be assured of virus free downloads and drivers that will keep your printers functioning.

Dell Releases Eight New Printers to Compete with HP, Xerox
Dell is launching eight new black-and-white printers, including several multifunction models, which target a range of businesses from large enterprise to small companies to specialized users in the health care, legal and education fields.
The eight new Dell printers, which are available March 30, represent the next step Dell is taking in revamping its printer portfolio to better compete with Hewlett-Packard and Xerox in the enterprise market and against smaller players, such as Samsung and Brother, in the SMB (small and midsized business) markets.
In 2008, Dell began revamping its printer portfolio to better compete against HP. Now, Dell has more than 25 printer models, including black-and-white offerings, color printers and multifunction machines. The prices range from $119 on the low end to $3,319 on the high end.
While Dell has expanded its offerings during the last two years, Donald Heath, a senior product manager in company’s Printing and Imaging division, said Dell is focused on offering IT managers a way to save 20 to 30 percent in printing costs. With the economy still sluggish, Heath said IT managers are looking for a way to save money in one area and move that cash to a more critical area, such as data storage and critical infrastructure.

"With the downturn in the economy, everyone in IT has to come back to the drawing board," said Heath. "Where do we save money? In most IT staffs, printers probably don’t even make the Top 10. Where we felt like we can add value as a company is if we can save you 20 to 30 percent on a product line, especially something that you’re not that interested in, you can take that same amount of money and go spend it on unified communications, the new SAN, the line of business applications—all the stuff that you are worried about and it makes sense."
For IT departments, Dell is also looking to expand its line of multifunction printers to allow IT administrators to consolidate older machines and other peripherals—fax machines, for example—which can save money, offer more security and streamline the business.
Dell offers three-year warranties with its printers, and the product lifecycle ranges from three to five years. In addition, Dell has built embedded technology into the framework of many of its printers, especially the ones that offer touch screens, to meet the needs of specialty markets, such as health care and education. (With the passage of federal health care legislation in March, many IT firms are revamping their products to meet what many believe will be a growing need for health care-specific products.)
"Several printers that we offer are equipped to handle EMR [electronic medical record] systems," said Heath.
The eight new Dell systems are designated with either an "n," which means the printer offers a built-in network card, or a "d," which means the printer can handle double-sided printing. The new offerings include:
1-The Dell 1130, which handles 19 pages per minute (ppm), and the Dell 1130n, which handles 24 ppm. The Dell 1130 costs $119, while the 1130n costs $179.
2-The Dell 3333dn, which costs $999 and handles 40 ppm, and the Dell 3335dn, which costs $1,299 and handles 40 ppm. Both machines allow for print, scan and copy functionality.
3-The Dell 5230n, which costs $899 and handles 45 ppm, and the Dell 5230dn, which costs $999 and also handles 45 ppm.
4-The Dell 5530dn, which handles 55 ppm and costs $1,929.
5-The Dell 5535dn, which handles 55 ppm and costs $3,319. This machine also offers print, scan, copy and fax functionality.
All eight Dell printers are immediately available.

HP Printer error message
Question-
I hope you can help me with this. I've looked at the HP website but can't find an answer to fit my problem.
I just hooked up a new computer (running W98SE)and an HP DeskJet722c printer. The printer works fine, as it did on my previous computer, but now, I always get this error message when I go to print. I can click either "Ignore" or "Close" and the message disappears and the print job starts and comes out just fine. The message mentions HPFVLS14 (.exe when I go into "details". I can't remember what it exactly says as the printer is at my office but it says, I believe, that an illegal operation occured. The HP website gives solutions for similar error messages when things don't print but that isn't my case (mine prints). Any idea what is causing this? The driver is current (10.3v). When I downloaded (I did it several times) the driver, this .exe file is one of many that unzips but if I do a test print, which lists all of the files that work the printer, it doesn't list that .exe file. Any suggestions?
Thank you
Answer
I have had a similar problem a long time ago with the very same printer. But at that time it was an older driver. To fix it you have two choices:
1) Delet the printer completely. Reboot! Then you will need to download a copy (trial) of System Mechanic. Once you have System Mechanic run the clean registry option. What this will do is locate and registry items pertaining to the driver or printer that may still be in your registry. The items will be listed you can delete them all because they are items no longer associted with any of the programs or devices on your computer. Reboot! Then reload the printer using the new driver. Now if this does not workthe only option left is
2) Check the program you are printing from and is this problem only occuring in this program. If so back up data files and reload the program. The program will then find the driver and associate itself with the new printer driver.
If this does not work contact HP technical support and see if they can get you a patch file to correct the problem.

Dell Printer Cartridges
When it comes to fast and smooth printing, Dell printer cartridges have built a good reputation in the printing industry. A Dell printer cartridge can either be an OEM product or a remanufactured one. And with a major consumer shift currently going on, many are starting to opt for Dell remanufactured printer cartridges over the genuine OEM cartridges.
For many consumers, using Dell remanufactured printing cartridges is one of the best things that they can do in order to be more cost-effective. With remanufactured cartridges, consumers can also expect excellent printing results while not really spending a lot of cash. This reason alone makes remanufactured cartridges a more popular option than OEM cartridges.
Compared to an OEM cartridge, or an Original Equipment Manufacturer cartridge, a remanufactured one is like a recycled version of the OEM product. It is generally manufactured out of empty, broken, or used cartridges, which the remanufacturers have directly collected from the consumers. To ensure its quality, it is submitted to quality testing before it is packed. An OEM cartridge, on the other hand, is made by the same company that manufactured the printer, which means it is made out of new and top-quality parts and accessories.
These are the two major differences between these cartridges. However, they also have similarities, which contradict what many consumers are saying about OEM Dell cartridges being the better and more superior products than remanufactured Dell printer cartridges. The truth is that, just like OEM products, the remanufactured ones are also manufactured with very high quality standards, which means that consumers are ensured cartridges that are free of defects as well as quality problems and issues.
As what have been mentioned, a remanufactured cartridge also undergoes quality checks and may even come with an ISO certification. Just like an OEM cartridge, its remanufacturers can also offer warranty and money back in the event that consumers find the cartridge faulty and defective. And, of course, as what consumers really expect to have in a Dell printer cartridge, a remanufactured cartridge can also produce top-quality printing results, sometimes even better than an OEM cartridge. At times, it may also have higher page yield than an OEM cartridge.
But since both of these products can offer top-quality printing results, what really makes a Dell remanufactured cartridge a better and more popular choice? There are two major reasons why. A remanufactured cartridge is cost-effective and environment-friendly. Because a Dell remanufactured cartridge is basically made from unused, broken, and empty cartridges, its market price is a whole lot cheaper than a genuine OEM cartridge. It's also more environment-friendly simply because consumers are able to help lessen materials that, otherwise, would have gone to waste if not reused and recycled.
Consumers looking for more environment-friendly and cost-effective printing alternatives are sure to find it in a remanufactured Dell printer cartridge. But as many people say, the decision on which to buy still lies on the consumers. Whether they choose OEM or remanufactured Dell printer cartridges doesn't matter much. What matters most is that their product choice is able to satisfy their printing needs. Note though that consumers can sure have the best of both worlds with remanufactured cartridges.

Indicators Of A Good Brochure Printer
Let me help you choose the right brochure printing company, both offline and online. Sometimes it is hard to really figure out which the most ideal is.
This is true especially when it comes to printing your own custom brochures and it really becomes particularly hard with all the marketing that many of these do. To help you out, I have listed down below the five telltale signs of a good brochure printing company, which many professionals agree on. So look for these characteristics that you are eyeing. If all are present then you have a go signal to work with that particular printing firm.
1. Clearly marked options and prices – The first big sign is having clearly marked options and prices. If a printer is not confident enough with their prices and options to not show them visibly on the webpage or in their marketing brochures and posters then they are probably someone you should not work with. Great ones always show the real prices with the real options. With this kind of honesty, you know that their prices are competitive enough that is why it is okay to show the price. Mark those that show these details as ideal.
2. Visible credentials or accreditation – Another telltale sign are visible credentials and accreditations. Seals from city or state business councils or even the better business bureau online are all great signs that the printing firm is a legitimate business. You can trust these printers to deliver a good and standard quality print since they have been accredited by these organizations/councils. Of course, make sure that you research on those accreditations just to see if they are real.
3. Legally binding product guarantee – It is also a good sign if the business has its own legally binding product guarantee. Anyone confident enough to face litigation for a certain guarantee on a product means that they are really providing a great quality service. Therefore, if you see many printing guarantees that can be legally binding, it is a good sign to go for that printer. Of course, make sure that you get a copy of that guarantee for yourself just to be sure that it was there.
4. Easily accessible customer service – Customer service is a big issue for many businesses. If your prospective printing company has easily accessible customer service portals then it is a good sign that they are serious with what they are doing. Customer services on the phone are the most ideal since you can get instant satisfaction with what you want. If their service is friendly, timely and useful then there is no doubt that you will have a good time in dealing with them.
5. Fully array of contact details – Lastly, if the printer that you are eyeing has a wide array of contact details including phone numbers, websites, blogs, social networking handles, and of course, a real live address, then you have a good printer on your hands. This means that the brochure printer has an established presence and they put a lot of effort in staying visible to the public. Any company who does this deserves your time and your business. This is really a good sign of a professional printer.
These are the signs or indicators of a great printer. Make sure you remember and try to spot these as you find the best printing company for you.
